Ultrapulse Lumenis Fractional CO2 Laser delivers thousands of tiny laser pulses in a pattern over the skin. Each pulse heats a column of tissue eliminating pigment discolorations at the surface and creating a zone of heating deep in the tissue. Unique to the Ultra Pulse, these zones of heating shrink collagen and tighten the skin immediately. The CO2 laser also offers the benefits of heating deeper layers of skin tissue, thereby stimulating collagen remodeling, tightening the skin further. Patients can select from a range of treatments depending on the needs of their skin and lifestyle.
Ultrapulse Lumenis Fractional CO2 Laser is designed to offer the versatility of both deep and superficial skin resurfacing with minimum downtime. The wavelength of light emitted by a CO2 laser is very well absorbed by water in the skin. It vaporizes lines, wrinkles, scars, dark spots and other irregularities, layer by layer. This process also stimulates the formation of new collagen to provide better elasticity and support for the skin.. Since only a fractional area of the skin is vaporized with “bridges” of untouched skin in between, healing time will be very less.
The Ultrapulse laser offers three variations of fractional resurfacing treatment namely Active FX, Deep FX and Total FX.
Active FX uses a larger pattern of 1.3mm spots of CO2 energy scattered over the skin, and how much coverage you get depends on the power density of the laser beam, which may be as high as 95% or more.
Deep FX produces a smaller pattern of 120 micron spots of variable density [5-25%]. The laser beams go fairly deep into skin and may even reach all the way to the subcutaneous tissue depending on energy given.
When Deep FX and Active FX treatments are combined to provide maximum skin rejuvenation benefits, the resulting treatment is called Total FX.
Because of the differences in how the laser delivers energy, each procedure is used to treat different skin conditions. Ultrapulse Lumenis fractional CO2 laser is a versatile skin resurfacing laser that has 34 FDA-approved indications for aesthetics, as well as a surgical cutting instrument used for laser surgery procedures.
